The 2026 Washunga Days Car Show brought a variety of classic cars, trucks, motorcycles and specialty entries to Council Grove during the annual community celebration.
Co-coordinators Morton and Sherrie Griggs said the show had 27 entries this year. The number was smaller than in some previous years, they said, because the local show was competing with six other car shows being held the same weekend.
Best in Show honors went to Randy Grossenbacher for his 1935 Plymouth.
Terry Powell of Council Grove also received the Pin-Ups Choice award for his 1955 Chevy Bel-Air.
Other winners were: Best Other: Steve Cabezut. Best Mopar: Steve Cabezut, 2023 Dodge Challenger.
Oldest Vehicle: Ron Rigg, 1926 Ford.
People’s Choice: Ron Rigg, 1926 Ford.
Traveled Longest Distance: Dale Kester, minibike, 117 miles.
Best Truck: Richard Clore of Abilene, Kansas, 1972 Chevy.
Best GM: Steve Clore, 1970 Chevy.
Best Motorcycle: Dan Comer of Hope, Kansas, 2020 Harley.
Best Ford: Israel and Alice Perez, custom Ford van.
Kids Choice: Lilly Falenofoa, pedal car. She is the daughter of Aspen Egbert and granddaughter of Paul Langley.
