Council Grove City Hall will be closed on Friday in observance of Juneteenth. - The Council Grove Senior Center, 227 W. Main, will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 20. The restrooms will be open to the public.
(Submitted by Ken McClintock) When the Kaw Reservation on the Neosho River was established in 1847, about the north six miles overlapped the Shawnee Reservation surveyed in 1833, the south boundary of which ran a short distance south of the Munkres Creek bridge on K-177. The problem was remedied when the Shawnee Reservation was extinguished in 1854.
