Friends of the Council Grove Public Library in Council Grove will offer a three-part book discussion series in August, September and October exploring the theme “Turning Points: Stories of Women Choosing Their Own Paths.”
Life is formed of countless choices, from tiny details to turning points. Every day we make choices that could change the course of our lives and ripple throughout the lives of others.
In this series, readers will explore themes such as belonging, selfworth, and stereotypes through the stories of women who faced a turning point and chose to take their own path.
The book discussion series was selected and reserved from the Humanities Kansas Talk About Literature in Kansas (TALK) program catalog. Members of the Friends of CGPL will be leading the book discussions for this year’s TALK series and Northwest Kansas Library System is providing the books.
The first book discussion is The Midnight Library by Matt Haig and is scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, at 7 p.m.. As the series continues, readers will discuss Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus on September 15. The final book discussion will be The Vanishing Half by Britt Bennett on October 20.
The community is invited to attend the free programs, which will take place at Council Grove Public Library, 829 W. Main Street in Council Grove. For more information, contact the Council Grove Public Library at 620-767-5716 or visit www. councilgrove.lib.nckls.org.
