The Chase County Alumni Association will host its 2026 Alumni Weekend, “American Classic,” June 26-28, with several events open to alumni, families and community members.
Although the registration deadline has passed for the Saturday evening alumni banquet, organizers are encouraging people to take part in the weekend’s other activities, including the Friday night barbecue, Saturday morning parade and Saturday night social gathering at the Doghouse Saloon.
The weekend will begin Friday, June 26, with an alumni barbecue from 5 to 8 p.m. at Swope Park. The community is welcome to attend. Karen Baker, a 1986 graduate and owner of the Cowboy Cafe, will provide the meal, which will include burgers, hot dogs, baked beans, her well-known corn and homemade ice cream. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and yard games. A scholarship drawing and ice cream social also are planned.
Saturday’s activities will include the downtown parade at 11 a.m. in Cottonwood Falls. The alumni banquet will follow at 6 p.m. in the CCHS Commons Area. After the banquet, alumni and community members are invited to gather downtown for a social and beer garden at the Doghouse Saloon beginning at 8 p.m. and continuing until close.
The 1976 graduating class will be honored as the 50-year class during the weekend.
A golf tournament will be held Sunday, June 28, with a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start. Organizers said the tournament is full, but anyone is welcome to visit the clubhouse. Check-in will be from 8 to 9 a.m., and lunch will be available by freewill donation.
A 50/50 raffle will be held during the barbecue, banquet and golf tournament. The grand prize weekend raffle will be a Fanestil meat bundle.
Organizers also expressed appreciation to the many weekend and hole sponsors supporting the annual alumni celebration.
