Flint Hills 4-H Club
The Flint Hills 4-H Club Junior Officers’ Night was called to order on June 8, 2026, at the Council Grove Christian Church. Roll Call, which answered the question “What is your favorite 4H project?”, was answered by 19 members and 2 community leaders. A report of officers was given. The community leaders reminded the members of a few items from the newsletter, specifically information about the photography project photo boards, the showmanship clinic at Bunn’s farm, and the new signout process on fair clean-up night to receive premiums.
During special committee updates, members were informed that the educational tour would be at Carson Rail Dairy Farm with more information on dates to follow. Members were also asked about interest and availability regarding the Washunga Day Parade Float. In new business, the club officially voted on the educational tour and agreed to pay expenses related to the Washunga Day Float. The song leaders led the club in singing “Happy Birthday” and “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.” For the parliamentary procedure portion of the meeting, the members learned about the history of Robert’s Rules of Order.
Madison Schrader gave a talk on “Crocheting Granny Squares,” Vivi Jones demonstrated how to make slime, Charlotte Forbeck performed her Club Day exhibit on the piano, Lithe Thibodeaux talked about her experience at Show Me Dairy Goat Camp, Benjamin Schrader explained his favorite birds and how he will make a birdhouse, Issac Schrader shared about the meat goat he will take to the fair, and Cassidy Dalquest gave a public speaking presentation on screw worm beef. Recreation was skipped due to the length of the program. An announcement was made that next month will be the Club Mini Fair and each member is to bring one project to talk about. They then enjoyed refreshments after adjournment.
