Council Oak Regent, Colleen Anderson, and Council Oak Secretary, Pat Schneider of the daughters of the American Revolution, attended the annual conference in Washington DC. Traveling with them was their sister, Tena Brucken of the Samuel Lindscott DAR Chapter. Prior to attending Continental Congress the three spent time in Boston. Sites visited there were the USS Constitution, Paul Revere‘s home, the old North Church, the old state house building, the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum, and finally Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II reproduction ship. When the president general of the NS DAR enters the hall a huge American flag drops from the ceiling. That in itself is impressive but this year the bald eagle named Lincoln, from the famed Budweiser commercial, made an entrance into the hall above those attending. Committee reports and honoraries of scholastic, military, and service certificates and medals were presented for their efforts. This was a great way to start the celebration of the 250 years of American independence Council Oak member Michelle (Miki) Bowman provided a tour of the board of governors Federal Reserve system building where she works. Pictured left to right are: Merry Colvin, Colleen Anderson, Tena Brucken, Linda Shults, Pat Schneider, Miki Bowman and John Gilpin.
