Four Chase County Bulldog athletes have been recognized with 2026 Bulldog Track and Field honors.
Guthrie Danford was named Male Athlete of the Year, and Vonda Danford was named Female Athlete of the Year. Grace Welsh received Rookie of the Year honors, while Lynnae Rains was recognized with the Brock Lauer Keeper of the Culture award.
The 2026 honorees represent a range of contributions to the Bulldog program, from veteran leadership to first-year impact.
Bulldog coach Derick Budke said the Keeper of the Culture award reflects the unique identity of the Chase County track program, including traditions such as “Crop Top Tuesdays” and “Michael McDonald Wednesdays.” More importantly, he said, the honor goes to the athlete who best represents the program’s culture.
“The culture part is the athlete who is the best representative of who we are, selfless, competitive, and can-do attitude,” Budke said.
The award is named in honor of Brock Lauer, who Budke said was a driving force for the Bulldogs’ men’s program and helped raise expectations for the team.
