K-State Flint Hills Extension District has announced that Jessica Mayhew has joined its team as the new agent serving Morris County 4-H, as well as Agriculture and Natural Resources clients in Chase and Morris counties.
“We are excited to welcome Mayhew to our Flint Hills Extension team. She brings a passion for working with youth and community with three years of classroom Agriculture Education teaching experience,” said Chelsea Bartels, Flint Hills Extension Director. “Adding her skills in developing and delivering impactful ag production and fabrication lessons to youth to our solid team will benefit the Morris County 4-H Program while also supporting the agriculture community in Chase and Morris County.”
Mayhew’s move to the Flint Hills allows her to serve as a 4-H agent while also taking on Agriculture and Natural Resources responsibilities. The position gives her the opportunity to focus on youth development while using her training and experience in a variety of agricultural content areas.
“I am excited to be able to use my degree on a wider spectrum com- bining work with youth, serving ag producers and promoting community development,” Mayhew said. “I love having the opportunity to be a liaison between K-State’s resources and the answers our producers are seeking to improve their business and livelihood.”
Mayhew will receive focused training through K-State Extension, as well as on-the-job training while shadowing Bartels and Deb Andres, Family and Community Wellness/ 4-H Agent. She is based in the Morris County K-State Flint Hills Extension District office at 315 W. Main St., Suite A, in Council Grove. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and is closed from noon to 1 p.m.
