Connie Baumgardner and her husband Boyce moved to Cottonwood Falls in March of 2009. The yard was their main focus as curb appeal was extremely important to Boyce and they both loved beautiful surroundings.

In 2010 they added a waterfall and Koi pond. After 3 years of maintenance, they decided to convert it to a recirculating waterfall. They redesigned the dry creek to carry the rainwater down the hill to the causeway and to the river.

In the spring, Connie spends an average of 4 hours a day planting and working in her yard. Once all is planted and established, she dedicates about 4 hours a week to maintaining her happy place. She often hosts four-legged visitors who help themselves to her more colorful and festive plants. Connie’s favorite plants include angelwing begonias, (a new favorite this year is a yellow begonia) lantana, inpatients, and her favorite – Karl Forrester Red Feather grass.
