Council Grove High School seniors were recognized during Awards Day on Wednesday for academic achievement, leadership, athletics, fine arts, career and technical education, and community involvement.
Aleah Weaver was recognized as valedictorian of the Class of 2026. Jocelyn Skaggs was honored as salutatorian.
Blaise French received the prestigious John Goff Inspirational Athlete Award, presented annually to a senior athlete who demonstrates dedication, leadership, character, and perseverance.
John Goff Award nominees included Blaise French (football, boys basketball, boys track), Castyn Andres (girls cross country), Haylie Grant (girls golf), Marlee Gant (volleyball), Makenzie Grant (girls basketball), Alysia Werner (girls wrestling), Tyler Hutchinson (boys wrestling), Macelyn Taylor (softball), Maxton Villalobos (baseball), Breckyn McEuen (girls track), Paul Bessmer (boys golf), and at-large nominees Kayden Hewitt and Mallory Wells.
Additional awards presented during the ceremony included: Emily Hinkson received the Choir Director Award, while Leo White received the Band Director Award.
Castyn Andres, Kassidy Belt, Augustus Wainwright, and Mallory Wells received 4-H Senior Recognition honors.
Castyn Andres and Giada Plummer were recognized as Morris County Farm Bureau Ag Ambassadors.
Aleah Weaver and Blaise French received the American Legion Award.
Recipients of the Greg Avers “Spirit of Athletic Excellence” Award were Blaise French, Marlee Gant, Makenzie Grant, Breckyn McEuen, and Mallory Wells.
The Ralph and Sharon Mock “Fine Arts and Activities Award of Excellence” was presented to Grace Bolieu, Emily Hinkson, River Kleinkauf, and Leo White.

Flint Hills Technical College technical certificates were earned by Kassidy Belt (HOT), Tyler Hutchinson (AMT), Colton Lesslie (WELD), Hunter Nichols (AMT), and Kayden Schmidt (WELD).
Presidential Scholar honors were awarded to Castyn Andres, Cooper Askins, Paul Bessmer, Grace Bolieu, Jocelyn Skaggs, Alexandra Solis, Macelyn Taylor, Autumn Waters, and Aleah Weaver.
Aleah Weaver also received the ACT Scholar Award and was recognized as a Kansas Governor’s Scholar.
Flint Hills League All-League Academic honors (3.5 or higher and participated in two Kansas State High School Athletics Association activities in senior year and full time student) went to Grace Bolieu, Hallie Frazier, Marlee Gant, Haylie Grant, Makenzie Grant, Emily Hinkson, Tyler Hutchinson, River Kleinkauf, Giada Plummer, Macelyn Taylor, Mallory Wells, and Leo White.
Kansas Board of Regents-Kansas Scholars Curriculum Completer (completed 4 units of English, 4 units of math, 3 units of science, 3 units of social science and 2 units of foreign language), recognition was awarded to Castyn Andres, Cooper Askins, Paul Bessmer, Addison Craige, Willow Hutchinson, Levi Senne, Jocelyn Skaggs, Alexandra Solis, Elkan Spear, Macelyn Taylor, Autumn Waters, Aleah Weaver, Mallory Wells, and Leo White.
