Richard Ivan Grimmett, age 76, passed away on June 12, 2026 in Goddard, KS. He was born June 7, 1950 in Council Grove, KS to Olen and Esther (Collyer) Grimmett.
A celebration of life will be July 18, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Canning Creek Cove in the Osage Shelter at the reservoir in Council Grove, KS.
Richard grew up in Council Grove with his 9 siblings. He graduated from Council Grove High School in 1969 and had vocational training in Emporia KS. He married his wife, Susan, June 7, 1974 and were married for 48 years at her passing. He spent his life with her raising 2 children. Richard spent majority of his life driving a semi and the last few years he spent traveling in a camper across the country. He also loved doing woodworking projects and other projects.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Susan (Buchman) Grimmett, parents Olen and Esther Grimmett, 2 brothers Charles Grimmett and Thomas Grimmett, and 2 grandchildren, Ashley Kinish and Nathaneal Widler.
Richard is survived by his 2 children. Son; Olen, his wife Amber along with their children, BrieAnna Scoville, husband Brandan and child, Kaitlynn Ridder, husband Peter and their 2 children, and William Grimmett and his wife Maggie. Daughter; Jennifer along with her children Rylea (Cally) Widler and Landen Grimmett-Smith. He is also survived by several siblings, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
