Families interested in Red Cross swimming lessons are encouraged to register as soon as possible, as the deadline is now and class sizes are limited. Lessons will be offered June 29 through July 10.
The Chase County Alumni Association will host its 2026 Alumni Weekend, “American Classic,” June 26-28, with several events open to alumni, families and community members. Although the registration deadline has passed for the Saturday evening alumni banquet, organizers are encouraging people to take part in the weekend’s other activities, including the Friday night barbecue, Saturday morning parade and Saturday night social gathering at the Doghouse Saloon.
Four Chase County Bulldog athletes have been recognized with 2026 Bulldog Track and Field honors. Guthrie Danford was named Male Athlete of the Year, and Vonda Danford was named Female Athlete of the Year.
The monthly meeting of the Rainbow Garden Club was held on June 4th at the Chase County Care and Rehabilitation Center in Cottonwood Falls. Club members arrived at 2:00 with an abundance of colorful flowers and greenery. Nursing home resident gathered in the activities room where they created individual flower arrangements with the assistance of club members. Everyone had a good time. Enough arrangements were made for all the residents to have flowers in their room to enjoy.

There is a critical vote on August 4 and it is important you understand that a yes vote will change the Kansas Constitution as it relates to who makes up the Kansas Supreme Court and a no vote will leave the Merit system in place. In 2025, the Kansas Legislature passed SCR1611 which received the required votes in each chamber for passage. Because this was a bill to change the Constitution of the state, it did not go to the governor. I have heard, read and seen many things about this proposed change that are completely inaccurate.
